Mood Blanket

Hello!

I decided to join this year long crochet adventure at the last moment, and I am so happy that I jumped on board.  My goal is to crochet a square 3-4 squares per week.  I am not assigning a mood to a different color (because lets face it, there is not enough colors in the world to portray my moods accurately), and instead, have decided to use whatever color strikes my fancy on that day.

Keep checking back with this page, to see the blanket grow all year long! I am planning on updating every Wednesday.

Week 1
I have finished my first week in the crochet mood blanket CAL - #crochetmoodblanket2014 started by @frofunky on IG - and Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 on FB.  There is also a Ravelry group.

I am going to use Priscilla Hewitt's Fisherman's Ring crochet square pattern to make up every square for my blanket.  I love this pattern!  It is so simple to crochet, yet the outcome is so stunning.

I hit my first week goal, and finished crocheting 4 squares.

I am very pleased with my first week of squares!

Week 2

I love my week 2 colors for the Crochet Mood Blanket 2014!  I have started joining them, but will have to wait until tomorrow to take a photo.

For now, here are the individual squares.

Week 3

I came to realize this week, that because of the size of this blanket, I will have a fully size afghan done with half the year left to go.  I have decided to keep making 4 squares a week, using this same pattern, up until my birthday - June 25th.  After that, I think I will make different squares, and make another blanket for the second part of the year.

I also decided how to join my squares this past week.  I made the choice to just stick with simply whip stitching them together.
I think this will let the beauty of the square pattern shine!

Week 4

Wow, week 4 is a week late with posting, but I just caught up with the last two weeks of my blanket.

I am loving my blanket more and more, every week.

Week 5

At least this post is right on time!  Now, I can stop stressing about getting caught up on my blanket.  I just don't want to get two weeks behind again, because I want this blanket to be a fun project, and not an anxiety producing project....

Made it through the first month!

I even got all of my squares joined this morning!

So, as I said before, I am going to make 4 square a week up until my birthday - June 25th.  I figured that is almost half way through the year, and will make a good size blanket.  That is 25 weeks total, which means I will have 100 squares, so I decided that a 10x10 blanket will be the easiest way to join the squares.
This means, my first two rows are completely done!  So far, I have a 2x10 blanket.
When I am done on my birthday, my blanket will be approximately 84inches square - that is before any border.  Which makes me wonder - what type of border should I do? And, what color should it be? Hmmmm, well at least I have more 20 more weeks to figure that out!
